USS S-36 (SS-141) was built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation of San Francisco and commissioned 4 April 1923. On 20 January 1942 during her first war patrol, she ran aground at Taka Bakang Reef and was scuttled. USS S-36 was awarded Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one battle star, and World War II Victory Medal.
